Board of Elections

The Board of Elections is responsible for conducting fair and impartial elections and registering local residents to vote. Elections and registration are conducted in accordance with the Georgia Election code, State Election Board Rules, Federal and Local Laws.

The Board of Elections and Registration of Peach County is composed of five members appointed accordingly:

  • Two members of the board are appointed by the governing authority of Peach County
  • One member of the board is selected by the county executive committee of the political party which received the highest number of votes within the county for its candidate for Governor in the general election immediately preceding the appointment of such member.
  • One member of the board is selected by the county executive committee of the political party which received the second highest number of votes within the county for its candidate for Governor in the general election immediately preceding the appointment of such member.
  • One member is selected by the chief judge of the Superior Court of Peach County.

PEACH COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS CALL FOR LOGIC & ACCURACY TESTING

The Peach County Board of elections will have their Logic and Accuracy preparation and testing of the Ballot Marking Device Units, Poll Pad Units with Ballot Marking Scanners and ImageCast Precinct Tabulators on Monday, November 20, 2023 for the Municipal Runoff Election December 5, 2023 in accordance to the Georgia Elections Code 21-2-374.  It will take place at the Thomas Public Library at 315 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Fort Valley, GA 31030.  Peach County Advance Voting will be Nov. 27 – Dec. 1, 2023 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm.  It will take place at the Peach County Board of Elections Office located in the Peach County Court House at 205 West Church Street, Fort Valley, GA  31030.  We will also accommodate voters during lunch time hours 12:00 pm-1:00 pm.  There will be no Saturday Voting.  Absentee Ballot Applications will be accepted until the close of business on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023.  Ballot Boxes for returned Absentee Ballots will be located at the Peach County Court House for your convenience only through Advance Voting.  The last day to use the Ballot Boxes will be Friday, Dec. 1, 2023. 

INTENT TO TABULATE

The Peach County Board of Elections intend to tabulate the Absentee Ballot early prior to Election Day on Thursday and Friday October 27-28, 2022 per RULE 183-1-14-0.7-.15 for the Elections held on November 8, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the third Monday prior to Election Day. County Election Superintendents shall be authorized to open the outer envelope of accepted Absentee Ballots, remove the contents including the Absentee Ballot, and scan the Absentee Ballot using one or more Ballot Scanners, in accordance with this rule, and may continue until all accepted Absentee Ballots are processed. However, no person shall tally, tabulate, estimate or attempt to tally, tabulate or estimate or cause the voting equipment to produce any tally or tabulation, partial or otherwise, of the Absentee Votes cast until the time for the closing of the polls on Election Day.
